About REAL TTIME: The Georgia Poison Center is now available to ALL rural healthcare providers to assist with the care for patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) and to remain in compliance with The Joint Commission’s R3 Requirements for providing care for patient with OUD.
An overdose is a poisoning. Call the Georgia Poison Center and immediately speak to an Addiction Medicine specialist for assistance with acute opioid withdrawal management, initiation of Medication Assisted Therapy (e.g., Suboxone [buprenorphine-naloxone]), and linkage to local Recovery Community Organizations for help with outpatient follow up.
